Some Of The Best TaylorMade Irons You Can Buy

TaylorMade offers some of the best irons on the market, but they also offer a wide range for players of different skill levels and playing styles. Each club that they create offers a widely different feel, spin, launch and control compared to each design, which makes them brilliant to have because there is always a set of irons that will fit your game perfectly.

However, in recent years TaylorMade has outdone its previous work by creating some of the best irons available on the market. So we thought it would be worth having a quick look at some of the best that we have seen in the past few years.

TaylorMade Stealth Irons

The Stealth irons are TaylorMade’s 2022 game improvement options that have been designed to offer golfers incredible accuracy.

TaylorMade chose to update the Cap Back Design, which was used with great effect on the SIM 2 MAX irons, to create greater distance and speed to players’ shots. But for Stealth, this design was used with a toe wrap construction.

Pairing the Cap Back with the toe wrapped increased the distance, forgiveness and feel that you get from these clubs. The technique shifted the weight from the toe of the club to the sole. This created an extreme CG that helped the Stealth irons to be much easier to launch a ball while offering incredible trajectory on ball flight thanks to the low spin.

TaylorMade P790 Irons

TaylorMade’s P790’s are widely considered to be the best set of irons TaylorMade has ever created, and amongst one of the best irons ever made.

The irons were designed with an ultra-thin face that allowed for increased flex across the face which led to faster ball speeds and distance. The ultra-thin face was paired with thin-walled carbon steel body

With a hollow body, Taylormade placed their SpeedFoam Air insert that is 69% lighter than the previous design. Using the SpeedFoam Air meant that the irons were much more playable and much more forgiving.

One of the reasons that the P790’s are so forgiving though is that the lighter and thinner body construction meant that 31 grams of tungsten could be placed in the toe of the club, creating a massive amount of stability and forgiveness.

TaylorMade P770 Irons

The TaylorMade P9770 irons were designed to be the more compact version of the P790’s, using some of the same technologies like SpeedFoam insert and tungsten weighting, while still offering all of the performance of the larger irons.

The P770 irons were engineered to use a hollow body construction that used a steel face and soft carbon steel body to allow 46 grams of tungsten weight to be added, 15 grams more than the P790’s, to deliver more explosive distance to shots while still offering plenty of forgiveness.

Where the difference was apparent was the amount of height in the launch that could be generated from the P770’s with reduced spin that produced consistent carries.

These irons are a great addition to your bag if you appreciate a forgiving club that is able to create long and accurate shots, while also being able to play well even on mishits.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Irons

One of the key additions that separated the SIM 2 irons from its predecessor was the use of the Cap Back design that supported the entire topline of the club.

The Cap Back Design, which replaced the Speed Bridge technology that was used on the SIM Max, worked in tandem with the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket to allow for maximum flexibility in the face that increased ball speeds and the distance that you can reach with these clubs.

One of the other positive outcomes that came with using the Cap Back design was that the sweet spot on the face of the club was repositioned to cover the most common impact points so that golfers are almost guaranteed explosive ball speeds on every single shot that they make.

But what also makes these irons so great is that with all this new technology that is integrated in a hollowback design, they actually feel like they have been forged. With the use of the ECHO® Damping System the polymer insert is able to remove any harsh vibrations that are created on shots so players experience an incredible feel when using these irons.

TaylorMade P7MB Irons

Arguably the prettiest irons on the list, the P7MB irons have been designed with a classic muscle back design featuring Tour-inspired shaping in a contemporary design. An elegant design that uses smooth brushed carbon steel that catches and reflects the sun’s rays to create an even more amazing look.

Forged using 1025 carbon steel, these irons use a 2,000-ton press when being created to make sure that the structure is tighter and perfect so that golfers can experience a solid and consistent feel with every shot. And that design is matched by the precision that went into the face that has been machined pinpoint grooves.

As with most blades, these irons are best suited for golfers of a higher level who are looking for more quality and feel from their shots rather than forgiveness. However, despite this the P7MB are considered to offer great workability and control thanks to the movement of the centre of gravity.

TaylorMade P7TW Irons

It goes without saying, but if you have a set of irons that have been designed as part of a collaboration with Tiger Woods, you’re probably going to have an incredible set to play with.

The P7TW irons featured a first for TaylorMade with the milled grind soles on each club which provides golfers with an incredibly precise design that ensures precision on every shot consistently by promoting the best turf interaction possible.

Collaborating with Tiger Woods meant that TaylorMade got to work with one of, if not the greatest golfer of all time which came with incredible attention to detail when designing these clubs. Precise tungsten weight placement was used to create a set of irons that had better trajectory control, great workability and a greater feel at impact.

Also, the fact that you could be owning the exact irons that Tiger Woods designed and plays with is a pretty cool experience too.
