Our highly skilled team of fitters utilise the most advanced tools to help players optimise Driver performance, make Iron play more precise, dial in Wedges and fine-tune set compositions.
Not all clubs are created equally. Even more important is the way in which we as individual players actually use them. With the research and engineering that goes into making clubs we see today – we still cannot take into account the uniqueness of every golfers swing. Look below at TaylorMade’s World #1 Dustin Johnson and World #12 Jon Rahm – they have two completely different swings. It’s very easy for amateur golfers to believe there’s actually a ‘perfect’ way to swing the golf club. This simply isn’t true.
Custom fitting is all about adjusting clubs to YOUR swing. Of course, lessons from your PGA Professional will help improve your golf swing but the tools you are using are a major factor in lowering your scores. Custom fitting essentially involves adjusting aspects of the physical club around your body’s size, swing and technique.
Take a look at former Green Jacket winner Ian Woosnam. His height, set up and the way he attacks the ball ultimately affects the lie angle of the club. The former Ryder Cup Captain’s irons are all ‘3 degrees flat’. Off the shelf clubs just would not suit his swing – and we as golfers are no different in that aspect.
In our experience the results of proper custom fitting are immediate and often quite dramatic. With the help of the technology available to us within Flightscope we can show you the difference between fitted and non fitted clubs. You can see where the club impacts on the face and the sole giving you an insight into what is needed to help improve your shots.
Our professionally trained fitters will take you through every step and we have a very relaxed approach. We all know how daunting it can be to hit golf balls with an audience so here at Golfgeardirect we’ve taken this into account with our suite designs.
You have your own private bay – just you, your fitter and the technology surrounding you in the room. We’ll often leave you to warm up and get used to the surroundings and the Flightscope screen.
Most custom fit sessions will be between 30-45 minutes depending on what and how many clubs you are being fitted for.

Store manager Ian Henderson has been running the site for the company for over 23 years and has literally seen thousands of happy golfers leave with new clubs expertly custom fitted to their individual specification. Ian has been able to train our younger members of staff over the years to a high level along with manufacturer training seminars. Callaway & TaylorMade offer extensive training days for our staff ensuring they have the best knowledge of each brands new products and to keep up with any industry advancements in custom fitting.

Opened in 2014 our Headcorn Fitting Centre features a modern look suite with all the clubs you wish to test. As well as our professionally trained fitters our popular PGA Professional – Jacques Gous is also available to take you through your fit. Jacques has been with the company for over 15 years and has a wealth of experience fitting clubs for golfers across Kent.
Like our Rainham suite we have Flightscope technology on hand to show you which clubs are performing best and you’ll be able to view your results on on our large flat screen TV along with our portable iPad.
